21st-Jan-2007 12:53 pm - princess pretty!
hot smokin' meat
I have an idea for this year's NaNo, and I've had it for awhile. The idea is Princess Pretty, a (hopefully) comedic and also a little dramatic parody of magical girl anime shows.

So, I'm putting down my initial ideas here so as not to forget them. That's what this journal is mostly for, after all.

hot smokin' meat
chapter 5 - ramblin' part two )

16,655 words. 50,315 cumulative, or so. I wrote a little more after verifying for my win, and the verifier on the site was giving me a slightly smaller word count, but.. That is what OpenOffice says it is.
25 pages in 12-point Arial font.

A WINNER IS I! But this chapter is titled the way it is for a reason--I went batshit insane and decided that, YES, I CAN GO FROM 18,000 TO 50,000 WORDS IN THREE DAYS. And I did it. I wrote 21,586 words today. How did I pull it off? I stopped writing a novel in traditional novel format, and just explained the rest of the story through my own narrative voice. And then, I explained the past and the process that lead up to the story as it is now. Then, I rambled on about things like my life and next year's novel. But fuck, it was all my own words, so it counts. I won. I did it. I did it in a cheap way, I think, and I could have done it better, but I still did it. 21,586 in one day is pretty impressive no matter what you're writing, too. And I have NOT gone insane!

Well, next year's novel will be a magical girl parody, I think. I have a year to decide, though. Oh well, no more typing, please no more. Bye. I am glad, though. Not as glad as I would have been if I wrote a serious novel, but still glad. I would have felt a whole lot worse if I just gave up.

lol, my vocabulary maybe isn't as wide as I thought it was. Too bad I don't have time to refer to a thesaurus all the time.

A list of things to research as I think of them.

- Japanese orphanages - Done, I guess. There's hardly any information. I'll have to do my best!
- Japanese schools? All grade levels
- How dragons are typically made to work as "living beings" in fiction and art
- Mercury (the planet) THOUGH THERE'S NOT MUCH TO KNOW
